I love the idea of making lists of things I should be doing but I'm not.
I also am both amused and cringe and look forward to whatever your next 90210 obsession effort may be
I wonder what my own equivalent to 90210 fandom might be. Like, the thing you're nostalgic for while knowing it's not good, but can't help yourself. The whole matrix universe comes to mind for me, or maybe Chris Elliott's gdt a life, but I'm not ashamed of loving that because it's incredible.
Maybe it's the simple fact that I'm a fish fan. It's something that people who love it love it, and they don't apologize for it, but some of us know it's like, maybe not the best thing on the planet anymore, but at the same time, maybe it is. Maybe all you want is to go back to the peach pit where everyone knows your name
A Simpson's line always comes to mind when I think about my 90210 obsession. Can't remember the characters, situation, or episode, but it's an exchange of "Are you being ironic?" "I don't even know anymore."
902win Peaks, though, is all about trying to match up things in both shows that seem like they fit together. In a lot of cases, it has to do with 90210 referencing Twin Peaks or stealing plot lines from them, sometimes it's just a shared actor, like Leland Palmer showing up in later seasons of 90210 as Noah's dad. But there's a treasure trove of touch points between the two shows, and I'm pretty sure that I'm the only person who's ever noticed or looked for them.
Also, just to note, Get a Life is a classic. In case you're not familiar with it, you should definitely listen to So... How's Your Girl by Handsome Boy Modeling School, a project name that Dan the Automator and Prince Paul lifted directly from Get a Life. Chris Elliott actually did a reading at the Barnes and Noble on 36th street in University City for a book of his that I reviewed called The Shroud of the Twacker. I asked him about that project and also about the Automator sampling Cabin Boy on Dr. Octagon. He said the three of them had had meetings trying to set up an ice capades type of show for Handsome Boy Modeling School which obviously never happened. Not sure how serious he was being, but I found it hilarious.
There's also a great podcast episode about the project's genesis.
